On 20th January, the first meeting of the Civil Society Pillar of the Community of Democracies, led by Redlad as the new leadership, was held. Representatives of worldwide focal points and other members participated in the conversation.
Redlad took advantage of this opportunity to welcome the three new focal points Acción Ciudadana (Guatemala), Centre for Human Rights and Development (Mongolia), and Cultura Democrática (Argentina), organizations that will join the pillar and with whom it is expected to work very closely.
At this meeting, the Chair and Secretariat of the Civil Society Pillar presented the work done by Redlad since assuming the role, as well as introduced the work proposal for the pillar in 2023, which seeks to include an inter-sectorial approach, the consolidation of relations with the Pillar’s Focal Points and new strategies to carry out a renewal process that respond to the democratic reality of the countries.
The action plan for 2023 will focus on achieve the following three objectives:
- Strengthen the ownership of Pillar’s members.
2. Increase the relevance and outreach of Pillar’s action.
3. Improve and enhance the relation with Pillar’s main stakeholders
The focal points representatives had the opportunity to participate actively and to share their points of view on the proposed work plan for 2023. Likewise, this dialogue also helped to know their main concerns and identify the areas they would like to work on and strengthen in order to contribute to the consolidation of the civil society pillar.
We will continue to work hand-in-hand with the focal points to articulate actions that respond to CSP priorities and strengthen our work.
The deck presented in the meeting can be consulted here, the minutes and work plan will be sent by mail to each of the Pillar’s members.
